Poster

I have created this poster. Suzy sent me a picture of our artist, which she had taken whilst filming our music video. I have edited the poster on photoshop making it brighter, which enhances her facial features. The guitar in the picture suggests she plays it herself and loves her music, which is the image we are aiming to achieve. I added the album cover to the bottom left hand corner of the poster as this will help to promote our artist. I used the white font and lucinda handwriting to make her name stand out on the poster. This also makes fans see that this type of writing is unique to her and is recognisable, almost like a logo.

filming

i have finally finished filming, i have had to improvise with some selected scenes as we originally planned to have a boy in 3 scenes that would act as her boyfriend, but we couldn't find a boy to be in the music video so i decided to change the scenes, i believe i made a good choice because the filming turned out much better than i expected.

Transport

I now have a working and fully taxed car, so we are now able to go to pretty much wherever we desire. YAY

Filming

yesterday Henry and i started filming we started off with shot no.17 which was our artist performing on stage, we couldn't use the school hall as originally planed as the school band was rehersing after school. so we decided to film in the drama studio and added a chair and a staircase to the set to add variety to our filming as we didn't want our audience getting board with watching our artist in the same position for 66 seconds.
After i went home with my cousin to film shot no.6 in my bedroom where she is lying on the bed on the phone lip syncing 'You say you want me and you can't have me now, you had your chance but you blew it now your out of time'.
we moved on to shot no. 2 and 9 where she is looking out of the window, no.2- 'why the feeling nobody knows'. no.9- 'since you've been gone, i've had nothing to feel'. shot no 2 and 9 are repeated shots as audiences like some repetition., we continued to film shot no.5 where she is looking into the mirror 'so you can't hurt my pride or led to control me.' unfortunately we could only film 5 shots as it got dark and we couldn't film outside because we needed daylight.
I feel yesterdays filming went really well and i am looking forward to filming the rest.

FILMING

Yesterday after school we gathered the camera equipment and started to film. We had to use the drama studio as the school hall was being used for Big Band. I drove down to the station to pick up Suzy's cousin. We then set up the Mise en scene, which was the chair we used of the back of our digipack. We found a flight of stairs and turned it around so the blue didn't show up. I placed some plants either side of the stairs to represent the natural side. We attempted to use a street light but it didn't show up due to the black background and 3 point lighting. WE filmed the final part of the song, which is the chorus, and we shot the last line as a close up, for emphasis on the lyrics. After we shot from various different angles to give some variety and we headed off after filming. Suzy then went home with her cousin to film other parts of the video, for example, the mirror and the window sill. I had to look after my dog so i was unable to attend

Props

Here is a picture of the type of bike we want to use in our video, to give the effect we are trying to make.

Test shots

In yesterdays lesson Henry and I started practising for our music video with some test shots. We are lucky that our school grounds contain the perfect scenery to act as the country lane in our video. The lighting was good because it showed all the green colours from the trees and plants which is what we want to stand out, as nature is the main focus in our video. We are now seriously considering using this location for the particular shot.

We also tested out a shot which we had discussed in the planning stage of the storyboard. It was where we used a table with wheels to act as a dolly, we then placed the tripod and camera on top of the table and adjusted it to be in line with the stage. We ran through moving the table forward towards the stage both slowly and quickly, however I felt that when it was done slowly the effect will not be very noticeable, although when we did it quickly the camera became shaky, so we would have to experiment with laying down some carpet underneath the dolly, to see whether this would improve the shakiness.

Filming

I have contacted my cousin and we have decided to film on wednesday. Friday and Saturday next week, this will enable us to finnish all our filming in time for after half term so that we can edit it.

Test Shots

Yesterday, Ruby and I went out with the wheeled tray down to the hall to test some shots acting as a dolly. It worked quite well, but we need to film it fairly slowly to keep it smooth and to have a marker on the floor in order to make sure it is in a straight line. We also went down the path behind the astroturf. We managed to get a few good test shots.

Locations

We could film in Birchanger Woods instead of Hatfield Forest if we wanted to as we have permission to and it is an equally good environment and it is in Bishop's Stortford which would mean that we could film the same day as we film the bedroom scenes as this would help to keep our time management.

Extras

In todays lesson we are deciding upon our extras that we need in our film. We will need
A person or people to walk past the pub in shot number 3.
A man to act as her boyfriend in shots number 4, 12 and 13.
A waiter or waitress in shot number 10.

Shot no 4 pub

This is where we are planning to film our scene in the pub, in the right hand corner. This is shot no.4

Permission

I have got permission to film the pub scene in the swan at Great Easton

Pictures of the Story board

Page 3
Page 2
Page 1These pictures are of our story board, the photos are not very good quality as we can not see what the text says, but this gives us an idea of what they look like, we will film our story board, so it is more clear.

Absence

Last week I was ill and stayed at home. I have complied a list of things we still need to do

We need to determine when we are available to film, this is due to availability as both Ruby and Suzy have jobs. I am completely free as I haven't got one.
We need to actually film before the end of next week as the deadline is after half-term.
We have encountered a problem because of our time constraints. We actually have a lot to accomplish and resolve, with a very very very short amount of time to do it in. If we can find time at the weekend to meet and film Suzy's cousin, we could film every single thing probably in one weekend.

Thursday 8 October 2009

Locations

Here is where we could film the partin our music video where our artist is climbing up the hill and then reaches the top and looks down. This hill would be good as it is tall and the view from the top would cover a wide area, which is the effect that we are wanting. It is in Bishop's Stortford Castle Gardens, however we may need to get permission to film here.

Storyboarding

Today we have started to plan out the structure of our music video, we have looked into all the possible locations that we could use to suit our video. The locations that we have decided upon are, a room where she is looking out of the window, a pub, her bedroom, Hatfield Forest, a country footpath, a country lane, a swing, a hill, and the school stage. These locations are where we want our video to take place, however some of the locations have not been finalised to specific places yet.
We also listened to our song and timed how long each shot would take, by timing each refrain this will enable us to film precisely.

Locations

This is a picture of the clock tower at Jubilee Gardens, this may be where we film part of our video as in the fourth verse the song goes " Now your out of time". This is where we could have our artist looking up at the clock because her boyfriend has not turned up when they were supposed to meet.

Locations

This is the bedroom that we could use in our music video.

Theorists

Our music video incorperates Steve Archers theory, with a need for a strong and coherent relationship between narrative and performance in music promos. This is shown in our music video when our artist is waiting for her boyfriend, but he doesnt show up. Our video also has aspects of Laura Mulveys theory where the women is often solely for the purpose of display, which facilitates a voyeuristic response in spectators. This is shown where our artist is lying on her bed.

Cd disk cover

I have developed this CD disk cover further by putting the album name, and information about it on to the disk i have added the compact disk logo for authenticity. i believe that this looks really professional and eye catching.

back of Album Cover

This is my version of the back of the Album cover

Album cover

Here is an edited version of our reverse album cover. I have listed the other songs on the album as well as copyright notes, year and record label. I chose the white font because not only is it more legible, it stands out and matches the colour of the chair

Disk cover

Here are three more disk covers that i have developed further and one that i have created.

Saturday 3 October 2009

Disk cover

I have created 3 potential CD disk covers for our artist using a program called 'Disc Cover' for Mac. This makes it more professional looking and eye catching for the audience.

The Back cover

This is the edited version of the image below, i have cropped it, enhanced it by adjusting the exposure, contrast, highlights, shadows, saturation, temperature and sharpness. This makes it look more professional and eye catching because of the warm tones and soft edges.
This image will be the back cover of our digipack

The location of the stage

The photo above is a potential back cover of our digipack

Here are the photos of the stage that we took yesterday whilst planning for the location and props. It was decided that in our video we would have different shots of the stage, with our artist placed in different places in each shot. By doing this we hope to make the viewer interested, as there will be variety, rather than the artist just sitting, or standing in the same place throughout the performance. we also looked at costumes under the stage, but we had no luck as the costumes were too dated for our artists appearance.
